From the streets of Delhi to the revered temples of Agra and Jaipur, northern India is a fascinating blend of stunning landmarks, cultural traditions and incredible landscapes. Without a doubt, one of the highlights of the region is a trip to Ranthambore National Park which presents a fantastic opportunity to go on safari in the hope of spotting one of the iconic symbols of India, the majestic Royal Bengal Tiger.

Day 1: London - Delhi

Depart London Heathrow on Jet Airways to Delhi.

Day 2: Delhi

Arrive in Delhi at midday and transfer to Oodles Hotel for your first 2 nights in India.

Day 3: Delhi

After an early morning bike ride through the bustling and charming labyrinthine back lanes of Old Delhi, you’ll be treated to a sightseeing tour of the city including all of the highlights of Old and New Delhi. (B)

Day 4: Varanasi

This morning you’ll be flying to the holy city of Varanasi for 2 nights at the Radisson Hotel. In the evening a traditional Aarti ceremony will take place at the Varanasi Ghats (steps leading to the river). (B)

Day 5: Varanasi

Make an early start to admire the glorious sunrise on a river boat cruise up the Ganges before checking out the local temples and enjoying the rest of the day at leisure. (B)

Day 6: Varanasi - Khajuraho

Enjoy an invigorating stretch with your private yoga instructor, before an afternoon flight to Khajuraho and the Hotel Ramada for an overnight stay. (B)

Day 7: Khajuraho - Agra

Morning visit to the temples, Khajuraho has the largest group of medieval Hindu and Jain temples, famous for their erotic sculpture. Drive to Jhansi for the evening train to the ancient city of Agra. Stay 2 nights at the Clarks Shiraz Hotel. (B/L)

Day 8: Agra

Get ready to experience two of the most talked about buildings in India as you visit Agra’s stunning Taj Mahal and equally impressive Red Fort. This afternoon you’re free to sightsee or just relax. (B)

Day 9: Agra – Ranthambore National Park

There’s no better way to travel in India than by train and today you’ll put this adage to the test as you clamber aboard and take a scenic trip to Ranthambore National Park which is famed for its magnificent tigers. Stay for the next 2 nights at the Ranthambore Regency Hotel. (B/D)

Day 10: Ranthambore National Park

Morning and afternoon game drives. As well as the elusive tiger, you will have a good chance of seeing sambar, chital and nilgai. The occasional gazelle – the chinkara can be seen, as well as the Indian hare, mongoose and monitor lizards. The lakes and pools at the park are where the deer congregate and where it is easiest to see the animals. (B/L/D)

Day 11-12: Jaipur

Next stop is the Pink City of Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan, where you’ll be based for the next 2 nights at the Fortune Select Metropole. Explore the city sights and surrounding area, including the famous Amber Fort. (B)

Day 13: Jaipur

Enjoy a city tour of Jaipur, sightseeing includes a visit to the City Palace & Observatory and the Hawa Mahal. Fly to Udaipur and stay 2 nights at the Lotus Resort. (B)

Day 14: Udaipur

Take a walking tour of the beautiful Rajasthani city of Udaipur, which is revered for its fabulous collection of palaces and lakes. (B)

Day 15: Udaipur – Mumbai – London

Transfer to the airport for the return Jet Airways flight to Mumbai to connect with the Virgin Atlantic flight to London Heathrow, arriving this evening. (B)
