For those of you who wouldn’t feel they had done justice to their Cuba visit without venturing further afield from ever popular Havana and Varadero, this tour is for you! It’s a real opportunity to see more of the countryside and to explore some of the historic and unspoiled towns off the beaten track.
Direct Virgin Atlantic flight from Gatwick to Havana. Arrive late afternoon and transfer to the Iberostar Parque Central Hotel for 3 nights.
AAfter breakfast, it’s time to explore your fascinating surroundings. Your full-day tour of Havana includes a trip to the living Rum Museum and takes in famous sights such as San Francisco de Asis Square, the Cathedral, Plaza de Armas and El Morro Fortress. After lunch at a local restaurant, Revolution Square, Malecon and La Rampa Street complete your sightseeing agenda for today. It’s then back to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay. (B/L/D)
Venture further afield today with a trip to the city of Pinar del Rio with its Old Spanish architecture. Enjoy a light lunch before heading onwards to view the beautiful landscapes of Vinales Valley, home to La Cueva del Indio - a cave with an underground river and the almost psychedelic Mural de La Prehistoria. Dinner and overnight back at the Havana hotel. (B/L/D)
Depart for Santa Clara, the town where Batista’s troops surrendered to Che Guevara in 1958 (Guevara is buried in the mausoleum here). Your city tour includes a visit to the Ernesto Guevara Square, the Museum and Mausoleum, the Parque Vidal and the Armoured Train. Lunch at a local restaurant before continuing onwards to the Villa of San Juan de Los Remedios. Visit the Sugar Museum, tour around the Park and visit the church. Overnight at Barcelona-Mascotte Hotel. (B/L/D)
Continue your journey to Cienfuegos and visit the Tomas Terry Theatre, one of the highlights. Home to one of the most beautiful bays in Cuba, other popular sights include Prado Promenade, Marti Park and El Bulevar. Lunch is at a local restaurant before visitng Palacio de Valle and enjoy a boat trip around Cienfuegos Bay. Continue to Trinidad for 2 nights at the Iberostar Grand Hotel Trinidad. (B/L/D)
Full day city tour of Trinidad including the Palacio Cantero Museum, La Canchanchara Bar and Plaza Mayor Square. After lunch visit and enjoy the views at Sugar Mills Valley and visit Manaca Iznaga town. (B/L/D)
Travel to Cayo Encenachos visiting Santi Spiritu en-route. The day is at leisure and overnight at the Iberostar Cayo Encenachos. (B/L/D)
After a fascinating week experiencing the many and varied delights that Cuba has to offer, it's time to transfer to Varadero to spend the next week relaxing on the beach and enjoying the crystal-clear waters, or to return to Havana for your Virgin Atlantic flight back to London Gatwick. (B)
