Borneo’s wildlife – Estimated to hold some 222 mammals (including 44 endemic), 420 resident birds (37 endemic), 100 amphibians and 394 fish (19 endemic), watch squirrels and foxes fly as well as the unique nose of the Proboscis Monkey, one of the most characteristic in the animal realm.

Borneo’s huge Biodiversity – The tropical rainforests and climate provide the ideal conditions for a vast array of species to thrive. The flora is astonishing from the swamps to the mangroves these provide the base of the food chain that nurtures Borneo’s animals.

Interact with the locals – Experience the humble living of the unique people of this nation including the incredible Iban headhunter tribes over a glass of ‘Tuak’.

Batang Ai – One of the last true wilderness areas, it carries a rich and tumultuous past from the British colonial period, it will give you a true insight into the real Borneo.

Kota Kinabalu – A mix of European, Malay and Chinese influences and one of Borneo’s most vibrant cities, the waterfront is a bustling night market with a fantastic laid-back atmosphere.

Kinabalu National Park – Awash with a mantle of lush vegetation, lying below the beguiling views of Mount Kinabalu, which at 4,095m is one of South-East Asia’s tallest peaks. It is a flora and fauna paradise and walking through the botanical gardens will be a certain highlight.

Sepilok Orangutan Sanctuary, Sandakan – A centre devoted to rehabilitating and educating, ensuring the visitor doesn’t intrude on the process of reintroducing these creatures back into the wild. Watch our close relatives play majestically.

Kinabatangan River – Likened to a mini Amazon, Malaysia’s longest river, home to a staggering diversity of animal and birdlife including crocodiles, snakes and proboscis monkeys.
